Anti-drones explained

A drone or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is an aircraft without a pilot. Essentially, a drone is a flying robot that may be remotely controlled or can fly autonomously through software-controlled flight plans. Drones use onboard sensors and GPS to fly.

They became very popular a few years ago in the military and especially at wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that there was need to avoid losing pilots on occasions that flying above the enemy was very dangerous.

Nowadays, drones are very popular in many sectors and businesses and they are also widely used by consumers since their prices dropped significantly. They are considered as the number one thread for public places, secure locations and government facilities.

Anti-drone systems are becoming very popular in the last 3 years, especially in US, in order to avoid terrorist attacks and also to secure strategically important government and public locations.

Is there is a growing market and demand for anti-drone systems? The answer to that question may be in the sheer number of companies pre-empting the need. This sub-set of the global commercial drones industry seems to be exploding and many analysts expect anti-drones to become more diverse and economically viable than the sales of commercial UAVs and UAS services themselves.[1]

In the last 3 years, more than 20 companies are developing and sell their own anti-drone detection and prevention systems, each one of them with different technology. Technologies vary based on the requirements.

Technologies such as anti-drone guns, drones' detection appliances, drones prevention appliances, radars, mobile devices, mobile applications (Android and iOS) and many others exist nowadays. However, not all the solutions are quite expensive and very difficult to implement and maintain them
